Bianca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a model and full-time Mama. Known on social media as SimplyBiancaAlexa. I was born and raised in England but my family and I moved to Puerto Rico when I was ten to be with my mother’s side of the family. When I was growing up, the lack of representation in the media was intense and having straight hair was everything! I grew up getting chemical straighteners, and dying my hair blonde to try and mold myself into the “beauty” standards I had always seen shown in the media. [Read more]

Lo que empezó con un video en YouTube, se convirtió en una puerta que Bianca Alexa no imaginaba abrir. Su canal SimplyBiancaAlexa, el cual dedica a estilo de vida, empezó como un espacio para compartir su experiencia con el cabello rizo. Alexa contó a Univisión que se pasó toda su vida tratando de alisar su cabello con químicos y tratamientos pero que después de mudarse a Los Ángeles, California, aprendió a amar su cabello natural. Luego de que su primer video acerca de su melena alcanzara más de 20mil vistas en una semana y muchas preguntas de sus seguidoras, supo que tenía que orientarse para seguir explicando en su canal sobre este tema.
Desde ese entonces ha trabajado con marcas como L’Oreal Paris, siendo la imagen de uno de sus tintes de cabello, Who What Wear, donde fue parte de su primera pasarela y en editoriales con Ipsy y Darling Magazine. Su carrera como modelo sigue despegando y su Instagram es testigo del potencial que posee.
Bianca Alexa is a UK-made, Puerto Rican-raised model based in Los Angeles. While she never could have imagined that a little island girl would one day build a career as the face of several fashion and beauty campaigns, Bianca has managed to work her way into an industry that so often has held little room for diversity.
Her curly natural hair and complexion were outwardly celebrated in beauty campaigns, but behind the scenes, she often found herself in an experience that was quite isolating.
