Let’s be honest! We all know that a great pair of nicely shaped brows can change the look of your whole face. Some are blessed with bold, bushy brows. While others are blessed with a more subtle look.
I was personally blessed with very spares, “barley there” type brows and while there is nothing wrong with that, I wanted a bolder look, to frame my face. I had visited Vanessa Ceballos, known as VCFaceBeauty once before to get my natural eyebrows tinted and LOVED the results. So when she let me know she was also microblading I jumped at the chance to get them done.
What is microblading ?
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo that replicates hair strokes to create a natural looking brow. Although it works in a similar way to a regular tattoo inking, it doesn’t go anywhere near as deep into the skin.
how long does it last?
Microblading can lasts anywhere between 12-18 months, depending on your after care and skin type. if you have more oily skin it could last you around 12 months mark and if you have normal skin it can last up to 18 months.
Whats the cost?
Depending on your location and who you go to microblading can cost anywhere from $200 to $1K or more. It is usually done in 2 to 3 sessions depending on how well your skin takes to the pigment.
Whats the process?
The process may vary depending on who you go too but typically, If it’s your first time, your natural brows will be cleaned and shaped. Next they will be measured and a temporary shape will be drawn on over your natural ones to give you an estimate of what the final shape/look will be. Numbing cream can be placed on your brows to help ease the process. (Numbing time can take up to 30 mins) And then your technician will begin by replicating the look of tiny hair strokes to make your brows look more natural. Overall the whole process can take 1 hour to an hour and a half.
After care
You can use Aquaphor or a natural balm to apply to your eyebrows to keep them moisturized while they are healing. You want to avoid touching your eyebrows or being in direct sunlight. When washing your face it’s best to avoid wetting your eyebrows, gently pat them dry if they get wet. , or wetting your brows until they have healed. As your brows are healing they will flake and peel off, don’t pull of the flakes as this might take the pigment with it, leaving you will a gap in your brows.
So if you were planing on going to the beach straight after your appointment, you might want to reschedule.
All in all, I am obsessed with my microbladed eyebrows and I wish I had gotten them done sooner. Most days, I like being makeup free and having my eyebrows already done makes getting ready that much easier. so if you’re thinking about getting your brows microbladed, do it!
