Lazy hair days, we all have them and lately I feel like I’ve been leaning heavily on a messy bun or tying my hair up in a scarf and calling it a day. Which is great for laying around the house and doing absolutely nothing, not so great for when you actually have to detangle all this hair.
I find the best thing to do with my hair on those super lazy days, is to just keep it moisturized and in a braid. which means less tangles but it also means there’s not much versatility there. If your hair texture or curl pattern is similar to mine then you know that once you tie it up or put it in a braid you’re basically done with it, you won’t see those curls again until it’s wash day.
So when I came across this $30 wig on Amazon, I figured it would be a fun addition to my photoshoot looks, I did not expect it to also become my go-to protective style for the summer.
My Natural hair vs. the wig
Now I’ve never been the type of girl that’s skilled in making lace wigs look natural, believe me I’ve tried! but this is a half wig and it comes with little hair combs attached to it on the inside so it’s super easy to install.
A half wig means you clip it to half of your head so you will have your natural hair in the front left out and blending in with the rest of the wig.
This particular wig has a whole lot of hair and also comes with a separate ponytail piece that you can use to create a “half up, half down” look, but since the ponytail is so long and voluminous, I like to only use the wig and blend it with my hair for a more natural look. Heres how:
How to install
- Start by dividing your hair into 4 sections
- moisturize and braid the back sections (this will be covered by the wig)
- Use bobby pins to secure the back sections to your head
- Place the wig over the back sections that are pinned up and secure with the attached clips
- take pieces from the front part of the wig to blend in with the front section of your hair
- Apply your styling products to your hair, brush and tie it up with the section of the wig you left out to create the half ponytail look
- That’s it! scroll down for a quick video step by step.
You can play around with the front section to create as many different hairstyles as you’d like!
